You are here: Bible Translation and IT > IT Serves Everything Else IT Serves Everything ElseMore Wycliffe people and critical corporate functions depend on IT than our core activity of translation itself. This list of functions should not surprise you:
All organizations have their business processes and IT infrastructures. Your individual IT skills were probably learned and developed in these domains, rather than in an area as different as linguistic analysis. Keep this in mind as you ponder whether the Lord is leading you to use now what you already know, or use later what you could learn to do (it could be either one!). Be aware as well that even your existing IT infrastructure-oriented background will be challenged in Wycliffe. Your business-computing background may not have involved working with over 110 different organizations located around the world. You might well have been using a computing environment that bears little resemblance to the wide range of platforms, methodologies and "influences" that make the IT world of Wycliffe an interesting place to serve the Lord. © 2006-2013 JAARS IT Engagement, Waxhaw, North Carolina, USA.
