You are here: Get Involved > Be an IT Project Partner Be an IT Project PartnerIntroductionAs an IT professional you understand the costs of setting up a network, purchasing equipment, broadband internet and multiple related costs. Donors who regularly give to a variety of Wycliffe projects do not understand the need for computers and its resources and consequently do not give. This creates a major funding gap for crucial resources that forward Bible translation. Increasingly we are moving major centres around the world to satellite broadband internet as funding and governments allow. In these places, broadband or land based internet is nonexistent, very expensive or unreliable. Sometimes we partner with other local mission agencies by sharing the satellite dish via wireless connectivity. We then in turn partner with DRASTIC (Disaster Relief And Strategic Telecommunications Infrastructure Company) who uses multiple nonprofits combined together to obtain cheaper satellite rates. Click on You could be involved as part of a one-time funding opportunity such as a laptop for a mother-tongue translator, or as a regular donor to an ongoing need (e.g., a monthly subsidy for satellite Internet access for a remote Wycliffe centre). You could even organize your church or professional group to take on some or all of a project. These are just a few examples of the many kinds of things that God could provide to forward Bible translation through you.
